Achievements At GLIS Junior High School (JHS)

As a liaison between the Primary and the SHS departments of GLIS, the Junior High School has over the years succeeded in absorbing pupils from the Primary Department. The JHS prepares the students and feeds them into the Senior High School.
Academically, our students are doing very well in both internal and external examinations. Our recent survey indicates that most of our JHS graduates who enrol in our senior high school excel in their various academic programmes.
Another area that is considered as an achievement on the part of the JHS is our ability to turn weak students into good ones.
Morally, we have been able to set some standards and best practices in terms of students’ personality development. We ensure that our students are hardworking, disciplined and law-abiding.
We have also devised strategies to help build confidence level of our students. Each student is given the opportunity at assembly ground to deliver a short speech, recite Quran, give food for thought or news highlights in order to keep them updated and abreast of their religious values and current affairs.
As part of our achievements, we have been able to instill in our students the skills of time management and self-discipline, which are key values they need in their lives to thrive.
We appreciate and award students for various achievements, including hard work, outstanding academic performance, and discipline.
As a result, we have succeeded in checking lateness, vernacular speaking, truancy, etc. Spelling B is another area we explore to provide our students with valuable academic experience. Last year, for instance, GLIS presented five students (four from the JHS and one from the primary) for the competition. The students went through all the stages of the competition, from community, regional to the national level and received medals.
Meanwhile, one of our contestants, Master Ahmed Alhassan, had the highest mark at the regional stage and was given a tablet and a certificate of honour.
